Sifu Anne Gilchrist
(1960- )

Sifu Anne Gilchrist is the director and chief instructor of the internal arts at the Intown school. Her first exposure to the martial arts was through her oldest daughter, Joanna. Joanna joined the youth program with Senior Master Gary Grooms at Norcross and became the youngest black belt in the Atlanta area at the time. In 1994, with her daughter's encouragement, Anne began Tai Chi as a way to supplement her other fitness activities and ended up becoming addicted. Through her practice of the internal arts, she was able to stay fit, overcome lower back problems and reduce stress – even throughout pregnancy! Now, this many years later, “I can’t imagine life without Tai Chi.”

Sifu Anne began teaching in 1997, became a Certified Instructor in 1999, and was awarded "Sifu" status in 2002. She currently holds the rank of 4th Black Sash. She has been instrumental in the growth and development of the Internal Arts program in the Atlanta area. Anne loves to share her passion and enjoyment of the internal arts with her students at the CSC-Intown Location. Besides Tai Chi, her other passion is photography. (See the Intown school exhibit of her photography from China and Tibet.)
